Hello,
I’m having an issue with the order of collections in Omeka S and I’d like to know if this is expected behavior or if I’m missing a setting.
In the admin area, I can reorder the collections in Sites > Resources > Collections. I see the three-line drag handle, I move the collections into the order I want, and I save the changes successfully.
I can also change the order in the advanced search / site admin interface, so the order appears to be editable in the backend.
However, on the public site, the collections still appear in the original creation order / ID order, not in the custom order I saved in the admin.
So the problem is:
- the order is editable and saved in the backend;
- the public site does not display that saved order;
- instead, it keeps showing the creation order.
Could someone please tell me:
- whether this is a known limitation or bug;
- if there is a setting I need to change so the public site respects the saved collection order;
- if the site theme or a browse configuration is overriding the admin order;
- or if I need to use a different approach to control the public display order?
Thank you for any guidance.
You’re seeing the item sets out of order where? On the item set browse page, or somewhere else?
On the browse page, maybe a module is most likely… do you have any modules that you think would affect this? The default setup for item sets is more or less the opposite of what you’re describing: they take the configured order and don’t offer any ways to sort them differently.
Thank you for the information! I found a way to sort the collections by numbering them, then prioritizing the order by title.
