Structure of forum categories for Omeka S

I recently posted a problem I was having about creating IIIF media via the API in Omeka S. Unfortunately I picked the Import/Export sub-category which is part of the Omeka Classic section.

I find it weird that the Omeka S grouping has sub-categories for

  • Installing
  • Development (of modules or core features)
  • Modules
  • Themes
  • Accessibility

The Omeka Classic area has equivalents for all of the, but also has

  • Troubleshooting
  • Import/Export
  • Items and Collections

There doesn’t seem to be a forum category suitable for discussion of general use of Omeka S, vocabularies and modelling, API use, etc., which could have fitted into some of those Omeka Classic categories.

We can certainly add new subsections. You can also post just to the “Omeka S” category without picking a subcategory.

Thanks - I hadn’t appreciated that you can just post to the main Omeka S category: that is probably sufficient. The only thing I wonder is whether the “Development” sub-category could have its description widened to include API use, not just development of modules and the core? It feels a very technical sort of thing to discuss in the general forum area.

I changed the description of that category to mention the API also.
