site only available on mydomain.org/omeka/ ?

Hi, beginner at Omeka here :slightly_smiling_face:
I should be able to get this, it should be simple, I know! So please bear with my stumbling first efforts. I have searched the forum but didn’t find an answer.

I followed the install instructions to the letter, “Upload the directory and all of its contents…” and I renamed the directory to something appropriate for the website I’m helping to setup. Result is that all the Omeka files are now on my friend’s Hostinger server in DOMAIN FOR SALE“renamed Omeka directory”/.

But going to mydomain.org is not showing anything still and when previewing the site from the Omeka dashboard it brings me to mydomain.org/“renamed Omeka directory”/. Seems I missed something.

When all is setup and live it is of course preferable if the site is directly available through my domain.org. How to do this? Should I just start over and instead of moving the Omeka directory to public_html I only move the contents of the Omeka folder there or is there an easy way to just move contents and change some files to reflect the new location?

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face: Wish you a lovely day :slightly_smiling_face:

Best regards,
Hans

That’s basically what you have going on: if you have inside public_html another folder that itself contains the Omeka files, that’s why your URL has that folder in it. The usual way to have Omeka at the root of a domain is, yes, to have the Omeka files directly in the public_html folder (or wherever your web files go on your host).

You can just move all the files/folders out of the subfolder and into the public_html folder; there’s no files you’d need to edit to do that kind of move.
