I uploaded an OCR enabled pdf and used Extract Text module to make it searchable on the user website. It works but when I search for something particular in that pdf text then results only show the item/media but doesn’t highlight the actual searched text in the pdf. Is there any way to make the text in the pdf to show or get highlighted in the search results?
You want to have the embedded PDF also search within itself for the search terms that were used to bring up the item or media page, I think I’m right in understanding this as what you’re looking for?
We don’t have anything that will do that; the first problem being that the context of what search you just did doesn’t get maintained when you click into a result. Beyond that there’d be an issue of what the various possible PDF readers actually support in terms of us trying to pass search terms down into them.
Speaking for the core and the out-of-the-box experience, users will have to search again within the PDF embed for the terms they’re looking for. It’s possible that customizations on the theme and/or module level might be able to make this work in a more automatic way, but I’m not aware of anyone who’s done it.
@jflatnes , it actually sounds to me like @gaurav is just looking to have the text that was extracted and matches the search to display and have it highlighted in the search results on the Omeka search page.
As far as I know this isn’t currently an option, but might be possibly with some theme modifications. I haven’t explored the Solr search modules, but I wonder if they have this capability built in.
