Search Engine Optimization & Google Scholar Indexing

My institution is hosting Omeka Classic and using it as our institutional repository. I am finding, however, that while our site is indexed in Google, the individual records are not indexed in either Google or Google Scholar, despite installing the Meta tag plugin.

Although I am admin for Omeka, I do not have access to the server where it is installed so any request I make of our IT needs to be very clear. Has anyone encountered this and/or have suggestions?

Thank you so very much for reading!

There’s a default robots.txt file shipped with Omeka Classic that blocks crawler access to the “files” folder. For indexing PDFs and so on, you’d need to remove that.

If you haven’t, you probably want to look into setting up Google’s Search Console so you can get some info on how they’re crawling you, if there are any issues, request pages be indexed, etc.
