Removing /s/ from Omeka s URLs

Is it possible to get around the /s/ in Omeka S URLs? We’re trying to make the URLs more general (and less awkward). I can mitigate this with the choice of directory I install it in, but I’d like to not use something like that that sounds a bit brittle.
