What version of Omeka S are you using? “Item showcase” was removed from the latest version and rolled together with “Media embed.”
The others are blocks that are provided by modules; do you have their corresponding modules installed and active? (e.g. Collecting, Mapping)
Thank you! We installed the newest version, so that explains it. Is there a good tutorial video for “Media embed”? The videos I’m finding all focus on the old “Item showcase.”
Media embed does basically the same thing as item showcase, which is why we combined them.
The only differences were things that you can configure on the media embed block, like setting the alignment to center by configuring the layout options using the “gears” icon.
Hello, so we basically need to go in and manually adjust any pages on exhibits that were previously using the Item Showcase feature in order to get the display blocks to look visually how they were before? Are there some default settings in media embed that would let us replicate the way this content displayed previously? Thanks for your assistance.
If you upgraded from a prior version, the upgrade should have automatically converted all your item showcase blocks to media embed blocks and applied the proper settings to them. Former showcase blocks automatically get the “horizontal” layout selected, and the setting to always display media as thumbnails, to match how the old showcase block behaved.
If you’re not seeing that, you could be in a situation where your theme just needs to be updated or something like that. A link to an example page where there’s an issue, if you’re having one, would help in diagnosing any problems.
