Omeka on a shared hosting plan

Hello, can I use Omeka on a shared hosting plan?
I mean concretely the webhosting on https://cloud86.io/
Obvious requirements like php, mysql are no issue, but are there other things that can make it impossible to run Omeka?
Is it different beween Omeka Classic and Omeka S?
Kind Regards, Wannes

The installation guide in the manual lists a few extra requirements for Omeka S, including AllowOverride being set to All in Apache, amd mod_rewrite being enabled. You’re probably better off on shared hosting than in an institutional server situation where you may find issues with SELinux, or firewalls preventing some modules from working that require access to the internet.

That said, even though my own personal hosting provider included Omeka via Softaculous, there was something about their server configuration that prevented Omeka from working. I cannot recall exactly what now.

I’ve been running Omeka Classic and Omeka S on Reclaim Hosting for over 5 years now with no real issues. They are very Omeka aware and have support solutions for every problem I have run into. I have installed Omeka using their installation package for Omeka as well as by copying Omeka from another server and importing the MySQL database.
