Omeka for Virtual Herbarium?

Omeka for Virtual Herbarium?
Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to use Omeka, to create a virtual herbarium, with taxonomic information of the species, my database has information about the geography of the collection site, taxonomy information, scientific name, species photos , The database structure is in the Darwin Core

thanks for listening

Hi Luis,

If you’re using Darwin Core, I would suggest using Omeka S (http://omeka.org/s/), because you can load the RDF for Darwin Core as a vocabulary to Omeka S and then use the CSVImport module (https://github.com/omeka-s-modules/CSVImport) to pull in all of your data, including the geospatial data which will work nicely with the Mapping module (https://github.com/omeka-s-modules/Mapping). It should be just what you need.

If you have any controlled vocabularies, you can use the CustomVocab module (https://github.com/omeka-s-modules/CustomVocab) to set them up for use with new species.

To keep the conversation aligned, I’m going to respond to the same question on the dev list, giving that place dibs because that’s where the first response came in.
