Importing from Omeka Classic - IIF and metadata

Hi,

I am attempting to migrate a collection from Omeka Classic to Omeka S using the “Omeka Classic Importer” module, but I am encountering a few issues during the process.

  1. IIIF Metadata and Image Quality
    The IIIF metadata of an image only works correctly when I manually drag the image into the upload box. Even then, the resulting file is not in high definition, although the original imported image is. For example:

  1. Incomplete Metadata After Import
    I have also noticed that not all metadata is being imported correctly. Items that do not belong to a specific collection in Omeka Classic are being imported with incomplete metadata (only title, creator, and date, while other fields are missing).

Is there a recommended procedure or configuration to ensure a complete and high-quality migration from Omeka Classic to Omeka S? How can I resolve the issues with image resolution and missing metadata?

I’m not quite sure what the IIIF portion of your question is referring to. Are you using the importer there, or uploading? If you’re uploading, are you using one of the IIIF options for media in Omeka S? If you’re importing, are you using a plugin on the Classic side (the Classic core doesn’t do IIIF).

The metadata should just be a case of the configured mapping. What kinds of fields are missing? If they’re custom fields or something like that then it may just be that you need to pick a property to map them to before doing the import.
