Images downloading instead of expanding

Hi:

One of my students recently uploaded a large number of images to my site and I noticed that when you click on the image to expand it, instead of expanding, it downloads. I’ve not had this happen before and couldn’t figure out where in the site settings I needed to make a change. I’m assuming there is a tick box that needs to be ticked or unticked, but I can’t find it.

It happens in Chrome v. 138.0.7204.158, but not in Safari v. 18.5

Different browsers deal with TIFFs differently. Only Safari can display them. Since the other browsers don’t handle the files, they default to downloading.

So, you can fix this by preprocessing your originals to another format.
