Images and Bookreader

Hi there,
Hope these aren’t too silly questions. After 7 or 8 years I’m creating another Omeka site for old magazines: Quarto test · Zine Scene I haven’t access to the old one so for the life of me, I can’t remember how to stop these full size images appearing on item pages. Also have I uploaded the wrong version of Book Reader? I can’t seem to see a full screen button? Sorry again, if I’m missing obvious things and thanks for your help.

I managed to remember how to stop the full size images appearing in the item page but for some reason the images in Bookreader are blurry. The images are the correct size and appear fine in another Omeka site, so I’m not sure what’s wrong. Any help would be really appreciated.

It looks like your items aren’t public, so people who aren’t logged in can’t see the page you’re linking to.

Hi John, thanks for getting back to me. Sorry about that. Here you are: Test 1 · Zine Scene
I’ve activated Universal Reader so that you can see the pdfs look fine in that. It’s just the Bookreader. Is there any way to deactivate or hide the download and share buttons on the UR? Thanks again,

I’m not super familiar with Bookreader itself, but it looks like it’s using your “fullsize” images in the reader. Those are really small on your site (see an example). You might look at the fullsize image size configured in Appearance → Settings and increase it? Yours looks like it might be set at 200… I’d try 800, or higher.

Note this will only affect newly generated thumbnails/fullsize images. Re-uploading files will regenerate the thumbnails, or it’s possible to recreate them for already uploaded files with the DerivativeImages plugin.
