How to remove side bar to free horizontal space

I’ve been trying for a while to find a theme that will let me use the entire horizontal space for an exhibit. I settled on The Daily for this reason. But as you can see below, it has a side menu.

  1. How can I shift the side menu to a horizontal menu above the exhibit, in this case maps?
  2. If the answer is to play around with CSS Editor, I’m trying to download and active that. But once I do, any tips on what specifically I can change?
