How to change item page layout

Hello - how do I go about changing the layout of the item page?

When a user selects an item, I need the metadata to display inline with the item. Right now, the item page is just one long scroll with the image on top and all the metadata one long scroll down the page. How can I get the metadata to display next to the image or document being viewed?

it’s all in the file show.phtml within our theme.

Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. I found the correct file and was able to change the alignment as needed.
