How do I change the spacing of a li::marker?

Can anyone tell me how to change the spacing of the ul li::marker in Freedom Theme? I have tried overriding the !important for anything that shows on the Inspect panel, but the only thing I’ve been able to change is the list-style position from outside to inside. That helps, but otherwise there is a huge gap in between the ::marker and its li. Any suggestions?

I’m showing the list inline and have been able to get them at least spaced out evenly by adding a margin to both the left and right.

When I look at the theme CSS, all I can find is this:

I have found a way to fix this… kinda. I discovered that if I change the content of the ::marker, it automatically moves it to right next to the li (with the ul {list-style-position: inside;}).

I did have to add a space within the content, since I still wasn’t able to get the margin or padding to work.

I feel like it’s just a bandaid, but it does produce the desired result.
