Trying to use the Google Search Console tools.

Using Classic on Reclaimhosting.

You can either install a file on your root directory or submit a sitemap. Since I can’t figure out where to install the file to be in the root directory, I’ve downloaded Sitemap2, but it gives me an error message:

" This page contains the following errors:
error on line 1 at column 1: Start tag expected, ‘<’ not found

Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error." [blank]

Anybody know how to either put something in the root directory or get a sitemap?

Hi @ArchivistGeorgen ,

You would just upload the file to the root of where your site is installed. Other things you would see in the root are the plugins and themes directories and the index.php and bootstrap.php files.

That doesn’t work.
I’ve installed the file in the right place, I guess, but it doesn’t pass verification.
