Hello, folks. We are not yet using Omeka S, but are thinking about how much storage space our instance would need. We’re estimating maybe 750 items (mostly single images, probably some multi-page documents), maybe around 6 sites. Not sure yet on the list of plugins we will need, but it will be some. Does anyone have insight into what we should expect in terms of storage capacity needed? Thanks!
Hi, this question is really hard to answer. It depends for example on the resolution/format/etc. of your original images, the use of image processing modules like IIIF Server/Image Server, File Sideload etc.
I can give you storage informations for a small museum collection with around 750 items (mostly single images), IIIF processed with default settings:
- files/original: 10 GB
- files/large: 1 GB
- files/medium: 25 MB
- files/square: 35 MB
- files/tile: 5 GB
Add an extra 10 GB if you upload the source files on the web server using File Sideload and less than 200 MB for the application, modules, themes and vendor folders.
Thanks, @boregar , it’s helpful to see that breakdown.
