Embedded YouTube Video Ads Question

Hi,

I am working on a project using Omeka S - building a digitized database of numerous collections. We are planning on using YouTube for the videos in the collections, but we are concerned about ads that may play on embedded videos. We are planning on tagging appropriate videos as suitable for all audiences/educational, but are there other ways to avoid ads on YouTube videos?

Thanks for any and all help!

Hi @mads ,

From what I understand, and it has been my experience, if you upload the video, own the copyright, and don’t enable monetization, then you won’t see ads on the videos. If you don’t own the copyright and it gets flagged, then the copyright owner can monetize your video.

A common practice I also do is to add ?rel=0 to an embedded video URL to prevent suggested videos from displaying at the end.
