Child Page settings

Hello,
I am developing a site where I have added multiple child pages to a single Parent Page.
The parent page contains a banner which is also visible on all the child pages and would like to remove it from all the child pages. Can someone please help me do that?

Such a layout will be easy to create in version 4.1.

I am currently using version 4.0.4. Is there a way to do the same (remove banner from child pages) without upgrading to 4.1?
