Hello team, very basic question here: I’m in Omeka-S
When we’re adding new users to the system, some invitations go through immediately, and others never get there. (seems to be not connected to a specific server, email provider, or known firewall…) I’ve tried the smart workaround to pre-set password and activate for the user. As in one previous comment in the forum (that apparently didn’t get resolved), User can see the portal but is told their email or password isn’t legit. Shortly I’ll get the user to initiate a brand new gmail account and see if that possibly works…
Any new breakthroughs or suggestions in this area?
Thanks BY
If you’re getting some emails from the Omeka S server, the issue isn’t Omeka S, it will likely be a spam filter. Do you have your DNS configured to whitelist the Omkea S server as an SPF sender?
Agreed on the spam/blocking part… some of that is going to be tough to do anything about. Rare or unknown mail senders can get pretty harsh treatment from the major mail providers. There are options in terms of SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and/or using a service for mail sending to improve delivery rates, though going deep on that stuff goes a little beyond the scope of Omeka help.
On manually setting the passwords: that should work fine, as long as you’re both setting the password and checking the box to mark the user as active. You can test out the password yourself using an incognito/private window or another browser.
