Alt Text for Item Carousel Block module

Our accessibility review tools are flagging each item in every Carousel for missing alt text. None of the images are including it.

We have assigned the “Media alt text property” in Global Settings ( Dublin Core: Abstract ), and we have added alt text to the Item metadata under Dublin Core: Abstract (alternate label = Alternative Text")

I just noticed the Item and Media show pages aren’t using the alt text either. They are using the file name as alt text. But the Carousel slides have nothing for it.

We are on Omeka S 4.2.0 and Item Carousel Block 1.4.1.

It doesn’t look like you have alt text set on that media anywhere. On the item page, the image is showing with a blank alt also (but a title on the link that wraps the image, possibly something just coming from your theme).

The “Media alt text property” setting uses media properties, so if you set it to Abstract it will be looking for an Abstract value on the media, not the item.
