I have a problem with installing Omeka. I believe I have installed it correctly but it does not come up when I type in the url address. I get an error message -
“Omeka has encountered an error

the url address is http://www.thecoreproject.org/omeka-2.4.1/
Can anyone tell me what have I done wrong?
The first step is to follow that link for retrieving error messages and follow the guides there. That’ll show more of what’s going on that we can work with.
done… but, i can’t Open the .htaccess file in the root (main folder) of my Omeka installation so that i can change some configuration settings in Omeka to display error messages.
That sounds like a permissions issue for the file. You’d have to check with your server admin or hosting company to give you access to that file.
