Omeka S with MariaDB

I am trying to upgrade an instance of Omeka S from version 1.4 to 2.0 (and eventually upgrade it to the latest version).

I cannot carry on the upgrade because of the following message: “The installed MySQL version (5.5.5-10.3.27-MariaDB) is too low. Omeka requires at least version 5.6.4.”

The Omeka S instance is hosted in a Cpanel account that runs MariaDB version 10.3.
I don’t know how Omeka can determine that the Maria DB version is equivalent of the 5.5.5 version of MySQL.

Is there a way around it?

I think it’s best for you to upgrade more “all at once” rather than going to 2.0 and then further on. At any rate, the specific problem you’re having was fixed in Omeka S 2.0.1, so you’d have to upgrade at least that “far” in your first step to avoid it.

Thanks! That worked and I am now at 2.0.1. now I am facing another problem (a general omekas error).

At least some progress…
