EZproxy and Omeka and PDF Embed

Suddenly I am unable to access the PDF, but if I remove the embedded proxy info from the URL:
http://library.gc.cuny.edu.central.ezproxy.cuny.edu:2048/legacy/items/show/12132
becoming:
http://library.gc.cuny.edu/legacy/items/show/12132
commend out:
storage.adapterOptions.webDir
from config.ini
and allow my workstation access via .htaccess I have no issues, so I know it is not the viewer.

Proxy administrator assures me no changes were made to proxy server IP (my htaccess has that location) or stanza.

Any ideas?

even though this:

and htaccess allows traffic from proxy.

Interestingly, apache is returning 200s:

Discovered it is a browser issue, so maybe the PDF Embed plugin?

It only works in IE, not FF, Chrome, Opera, Edge or Safari.

I changed the setting from PDF.js to the Object (uses the browser’s native PDF viewer) option, but only in Chrome, Opera, IE and Edge (no FF) on Windows and all browsers on IOS.

Solutions seem to range from changing things on the server (apache) to using a different viewer configuration.
